At the beginning of October our 2018 Grade 7’s went on the annual tour to the Garden Route. It was an early start on Monday 8 October, as everyone had to be at school by 5am, so we could leave by 6am.
Our first adventure for the day was Sandboarding at Vleesbaai with Dragons Dune Sandboarding. The kids had a ball but complained profusely about having to climb back up the dunes…the reality of what goes down, must come up!
Day 2 took us over the Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn for the day. We visited the Cango Wildlife Ranch, where we able to have an up-close look at lions, tigers, cheetahs and wonderful treat of seeing a leopard resting in a tree.
Next we explored the depths of the Cango Caves. Almost all our learners made it right to the end, conquering their fears of small spaces, by squeezing through The Chimney and The Letterbox.
It was boiling hot in Oudtshoorn, so much so that they had to postpone our ostrich feeding and riding at Highgate Ostrich Farm, to later in the afternoon. It turned out to be a welcome break, as we were able to lounge around on the grass under the trees for a few hours, chatting and relaxing.
Day 3 took us to the Wilderness for zip-lining and boat ride on the Knysna Lagoon.
Our final day was spent in the Plettenberg Bay area. We visited the Elephants at The Knysna Elephant Park, the snakes at Lawnwood Snake Park and finally an enormous amount of fun was had at Adventure Land waterpark.
Everyone had a fantastic time on tour, with many wonderful memories being made!
